Horses and saddles:

At H&H we live together with crellos and other mixed horse breeds that are very strong and sturdy and are used by the Gaucos. These horses were brought over during the Spanish settlement and were left behind and used by the Gaucos for their farm work. These hardy animals are able to survive in harsh climates as well as on relatively infertile soil and tough grasses while still maintaining a gentle temperament.
These horses have their own distinct characters and have varied abilities and skills to match that of the riders. They are able to be controlled at all gaits and are responsive to the riders´ commands.
10-15 horses currently live at H&H and roam free around the homestead.
We use typical Argentenean saddles knows as Recado Victoria. These are made with many layers; thick felt, two saddle blankets, the saddle and finally a sheepskin.  The sheepskins are also used as blankets to sit on during meal times around the fires as well as sleeping on them as your mattress during the night.
